On Tuesday 2 September the under 14’s got their season back on track with a close victory over Gort Na Mona in West Belfast. The Malone road men looked very rusty in the first 15 minutes and were slow to setttle. Daniel Lavery caught well and converted from 20 metres with a left shot however to kick start things for the Blues. After two scoreable frees kicked wide Donal Prenter took matters into his own hands and after a fine passing movment went for goal and buried hard and low into the corner. The first half saw John Keenan, Cathal Conway,Mark Campbell all defend well, while Langan and Prenter held their own in the middle.
In the second half the first half full forward Patrick Short moved to corner back with great effect. James kildea found his footing in attack and despite playing uphill
himself and Leyden carried the attack with vigour. A dramatic attempt on goal in the last five minutes came to nothing as the gort full forward slipped when in on goal, this meant that victory was secured for Naomh Brid.
The final score was 1:3 to 0:5
