Aghohill second’s put to the sword
The St Brigid’s second string got things under way at Deramore by putting in a very convincing display to record their second home win in a row over over the men in red and black. After an even opening quarter the home team found their feet through scores from play by Donnelly and the returning Taylor. Some good work from Marley and Donnelly resulted in further scores from Jimmy King and the same man finished well to put Naomh Brid team well on top. Some strong work from Mullan in the box meant he was upended and from the resultant penalty MacSherry stroked coolly home.
The half time score of 2:7 to 0:4 meant the superb Donnelly could be rested with a strong bench available. All five subs got a run out in the second half and the team did lose a little shape as the visitors narrowed the gap with a late goal. Brian Loughran did launch a massive score from the touch line to top a fime individual performance. However the final score of St Brigid’s 2:11 Aghohill 1:7 hid the dominance of the home side with Brendan MacDonald, Loughran and Finnegan in defence, Marley and Paddy MacDonald in midfield and Taylor, Donnelly and King all showing well up front.
