St. Brigid’s Division 5 team got the ball rolling with a hard fought victory over Aldergrove seconds in the opening match on Sunday last. The home team with the help of a stiff breeze got off to a steady start with some fine points from Marley and McCann. With the MacDonald Brothers dominating midfield and full back St. Brigids were on top but were not pulling away until a miss kick from a wide ball place kick fell into Donnelly’s’ hands and the ball was tucked away into the corner of the net. Two terrific goals from
Chris mc Cann put the seal on a great finish to a closely fought first half.

Score St. Brigid’s 3:4 Aldergrove 0:3

The second half saw the boys in blue defend into a strong breeze, but with Marley showing well and young Conor Mackle making his debut, and poping up to finish a fine score the home side won a low scoring second half. The only downside was a bad injury to Midfielder Darren Horisk. We wish a speedy recovery to our “dual star”.The management trio of Loughran, Conway and McGuckian can look forward to another home game next Sunday at 1:30 against Aghohill in advance of the senior game at Harlequins against St. Galls at 3 pm.

Final Score St. Brigids 3:7 Aldegrove 0:5
