On a beautiful sunny spring evening The St Brigids U 14 girls took to the field against a strong Glenavy team. Playing downhill the girls played fearlessly, and followed some early near misses with a run of points from Gemma Mulholland and Hannah Loughran. The girls continued to attack with intensity, but tended to over carry and crowd. The first of 2 goals from Abigail Carleton came after great approach play from Caitriona Montague and Emma Quinn, emphasising the domination of the St Brigids girls. The skilful play from Aimee Duffy ensured the ball stayed in the St Brigids half throughout most of the first half.

With the first half drawing to a close, and another point under their belts from Bronagh King, Sarah Smart started her first game outfield with a storming run upfield. There was great defending from Niamh Dunford, and a strong midfield line with Bronagh King and Naomi Morris. On the whistle Glenavy got a goal past a very impressive Niamh Webb, making the half time score 1-3 1-0 for the St Brigids girls.

The second half saw Glenavy making some strategic substitutions and put the local girls under pressure conceding 5 unanswered points. However St Brigids defence put in a superb performance with Julia Boyle and Eva McCarran and Lara Heaney tackling ferociously. An impressive solo run by Julie Curran set up an opportunity for Abigail Carleton to score a brilliant second goal, followed by yet more points from Hannah Loughran, who was having a superb game. A terrific perfotrmance and a very satisfactory result for the local girls.
