St Brigid’s Division 5 team kicked off a double header at a beautifully presented Sarsfield’s venue last Sunday and picked up their fifth victory from seven outings to keep in touch with the league leaders. The first quarter was evenly contested with St Brigid’s enjoying the better of the early scores with Rory O’Neill and Jimmy King scoring points apiece. Gregory McGonagle and Brian Loughran were controlling things in the middle third and after an incisive run from Rory O’Neill, Kevin Finnegan was on hand to convert from close range. Naomh Brid pulled ahead in the second quarter to go in at half time with a 2-8 to 3 points lead – the second goal coming from Keelan McCruddan.

The second half saw Ruari Taylor strike over some fine scores to ease the blues further in front. With Joe Marley, one of five subs to come off the bench, scoring from distance manager Feargal McCann will have a strong panel when the “Reserves” next field in three weeks’ time.

The final score of 2-13 to 0-7 was a fair reflection of the difference between the two teams.

Best for the Reserves were Greg McGonagle, Brian Loughran,Jimmy King and Rory
O’Neill.
