“Slow,slow,quick quick,slow” – Our gallant ladies forget this is for real and rise out of their slumbers at a leisurely pace.Despite this an entertaining game.The visitors deserved their win but what if we were mentally ready?.

“Up there with the Big Boys”
A superb game in which reality did dawn:we are as good as any team out there.You could see on players expressions the belief filtering through after 5 minutes .Our Guests were rattled and in new territory- behind at half time and well under the cosh to a vastly improved St Brigids.Two soft goals at the start of the second half [nobody’s fault yet everybody’s fault] was the difference in the end though and we went down by 1 – 2 yet greatly bouyed by a big performance.

Sing along everyone.It’s from the musical High Society.Bing Crosbie ,Louis Armstrong,Frank Sinatra,Grace Kelly……and the Montague Sisters [ No not the Andrews Sisters ].Of the 1 – -9 we scored to the opposition’s 2 – 2 Catherine Mullan bagged 1 – 4.Say no more of her performance except she got 2 more later.But it was Orla [ sing it loud ,sing it long],yes ORLA Montague who put over 2 expertly-well hit points followed by that metronome – like left of her younger sibling,Aoife,which stood out.Wait for Caitriona to come through to make it a trio.
Second Half – “The day of the Tiger” [ Look I know it should be the “EYE of the Tiger” but come with on this one ,Gentle Reader]
The definition of a farmer might be one who is outstanding in his own fieldwell that applies also to Helen Keenan at full back.She dealt with anyone and anything in her path.”Brilliant “,said one onlooker”masterful”,said another.The Keenan family and loquacious in the exterme.”She’s a real tiger”, shouted another.And so she was.Despite 5 points against and a lot of pressure some subtle changes and a lot of resilience we won by 5 points this time.Donna Feehan even decided to put the ball low and hard between the posts at one stage instead of against them.
A well deserved victory.
