Bríd Óg P3/4 at Glen Centre Go Games Saturday 30th January 2016
The P3/4 hurlers and camógs really started to get into their stride for 2016 on a snowy morning at the Glen Centre, Suffolk Road .
The weather didn’t put anybody off and our players were all set to go from the start.
The opening game turned out to be a very competitive one against St Enda’s.
It was end to end stuff with the ball in the net seven times, in total, not all of them counting. Both teams were doing their best to try to stay out of the opposition’s goal semi circle, but not always succeeding. Méabh started in goal and then rotated with Conor. Ronán led the line upfront, fighting for every ball, with Ríonach in support. Liam and Séagh covered lots of ground from their midfield starting positions. Ciara was brave in defence and challenged for every ball. Georgia made sure she got to the ball first and made plenty of clearances up the wings.
By the time we played Sarsfields the squad had really warmed up and for this game we had eight players lined out from the start. Katie made her presence felt in the forward line and Ronán , Liam and Séagh put continuous pressure on the opposition. Bríd Óg took the lead,then conceded one but went onto the front foot again throughout the rest of the game.

Ciara took a knock in this game and had to be substituted but she was not to be put off and was back in action, later, for the final game of the session. Georgia kept things steady at the back. Patrick made his mark on this game too and Ríonach was very reliable in goals. This was a very good team performance and all nine of the squad participated, with Méabh rotating from the bench.
Our final game was against Lámh Dhearg and again the Bríd Óg team maintained good discipline, staying out of the opposition’s semi circle and taking their shots from outside. This was another full on game with the ball constantly up and down the pitch. The ball was in the net more than a few times, but not all of them counted. The Brid Óg squad which played today was made up almost entirely of P3 players and towards the end the slightly more physical Lámh Dhearg forwards were proving hard to stop and they had a couple of great strikes on our goal. This Bríd Óg team, however, was by no means overawed and they kept coming back for more.
This was another great morning’s hurling and everyone enjoyed it.
