The U12s A squad put up a brave performance before going down to a very strong St John’s team on Friday night. Despite missing a number of players, the boys showed great heart and determination and the final score line did not accurately reflect the overall balance of play. In particular Cathal Conway and Niall Quinn gave their all in midfield and took the game to the visitors until the final whistle. While the Johnnies were slicker in passing, movement and point scoring, Naomh Brid never gave up and battled until the end.
With each game a learning experience the boys are adjusting to competitive league life, and the more games the better – a little less respect for the opposition and more self belief wouod not go amiss. Next up on Sunday afternoon is the visit to the YMCA of south Derry champions Watty Graham’s Glen, in what should be another useful outing for the boys. Only two weeks to the Championship first round clash with St Teresa’s, and 100% commitment and turnout at training and matches is essential preparation.
