An injury time goal from a left footed Cathal Conway shot sealed two points for the Naomh Brid boys and left broad smiles on the management team and players alike. In truth the battling qualities from man of the match Niall Quinn and two goal ace Conor Hughes meant a share of the spoils was on the cards. In the final quarter but a late goal conceded to the sean stinsons combination looked like it was going to be a case of what might have been.
However, 1:5 to 0:5 down at the break and trailing for the vast majority of the game, it took great performances from James Gildea, Matt Keenan, Paddy Short, Maurice Campbell, Luke McKeever and Conal Kelly to provide the platform for Hughes’ two fine goals and the MOM performance from Niall Quinn.
Well done to all from Dermot O’Rourke in nets, whose long kicking was a match feature, to captain Rory Finnegan, who marshalled the troops well, to the never- say-die attitude of Francis McGuckian and super sub Gerard Henvey who all played a part in the second victory from three games in the All County League.
Sean Stinsons are a combination of Aghohill and Portglenone.
