Greg Blaney will get his first taste of managerial league action this Sunday with a tough opening fixture against the fast improving Lamh Dhearg (fresh with an Ulster Minor title under their belt) who only narrowly lost out to St Galls in last year’s senior championship final. The Red Hands had a resounding win in the corresponding league fixture last year, which should be an incentive for the home side. Recent form points to the Hannahstown club, so a home win here would be a welcome boost.

The tie of the round is arguably the south west local derby between Cargin and Creggan in which home advantage may swing it for the Erin’s Own club.

Back in Belfast, St John’s, incidentally managed by Greg’s brother Eamon, host newly promoted Rossa, with the Corrigan Park club expected to be too strong for the Shaws Road boys.

Rasharkin will have to get used to life on the road after the sanctions imposed from last season, which may prove costly. Ceding home advantage to newly promoted St Paul’s will be a major handicap.

And finally, St Gall’s will be expected to be too strong for Ahoghill at Millltown.

All matches throw in at 4.00pm. Please come out and support your club. Naomh Brid abu! .
