It will be a busy couple of days for the young St Brigids players this weekend with action in the first round of both the u12 Hurling and Football championships.

First up are the footballers with a home tie against St Malachys on Saturday. While St Brigids as the reigning O’Donnell cup holders should progress to the next round, nothing can be taken for granted as their fellow south Belfast opponents provided stiff opposition in the league. Throw-in at 3:00pm on Saturday in Musgrave Park.

On Sunday morning the hurlers make their debut in the Nipper Quinn cup by hosting Rossa. This is the first year the club has fielded at this level, and in conjunction with Eire Og, we have established a consistent panel of players who have progressed considerably throughout the year. A very strong Ross outfit will be raging hot favourites to progress to the next round. However, being able to field a team at this level after a short few months is indeed success for St Brigids. Throw-in at 12noon on Sunday in Musgrave Park.

With a number of dual players on show we would urge club members to come out and support the young gaels over this weekend.
