U12 Go-Games – Friday 11 June – St Brigid’s vs St Teresa’s
——————————————————–
St Brigids U12 footballers continued their fine recent form with another strong display against St Teresa’s. St Brigid’s started brightly but they took a little time to find their range. However, St Brigid’s kept their composure and their pressure started to tell. Frank McCormack playing at half back finished off a fine team move to notch up the first score. This was quickly followed by a goal and a point from Enda Kelly McCann with further scores coming from James Smith and Patrick Finnegan. St Brigid’s ended the first half very strongly. They saved their best score to last when James Smith delivered a 30 yard pass into the run of corner forward Peter Lavery who finished to the net with his usual panache. For the first half display, considerable credit must go to the St Brigid’s half back line of Oran Boyle, Peter Webb and Frank McCormack who were instrumental in much of St Brigid’s excellent team work.
However, St Teresa’s stuck to their task and started the second half in fine form. The teams traded scores in a very keenly fought contest – which was equally played in a very sporting manner. Phelim Lennon and Enda Kelly McCann both kicked over two points for St Brigid’s – but two goals for St Teresa’s ensured there was no respite. However, St Brigid’s rallied well. John Duffy scored a fine individual goal James Smith added three points from play – but the score of the half was from Joseph Finnegan who jumped superbly to get onto to the end of a high ball to fist a fantastic goal pass the excellent St Tereas’s goalkeeper.
