A Minute With…Abi Carleton

We had Anna Finnegan  on ‘A Minute With’ yesterday, and today we have another player who has represented her club and county with distinction.

On the day our Minor ladies make their Championship bow (Musgrave, 6.30PM), Senior star Abi Carleton took a break from her own Championship preparations (SUNDAY, 2PM @ MUSGRAVE) to answer our quickfire queries….

1. Name? Abi Carleton
2. Age? 22
3. Playing position/role in club? Corner forward and Naomh Bríd OG
4. Favourite film? Cars
5. Favourite song? Pretty Shining People – George Ezra
6. Favourite food/meal? Any food or meal
7. Favourite holiday destination? Phi Phi Island, Thailand
8. Favourite pitch to play on? Musgrave Park, no place like it
9. Favourite club memory? Captaining the first club team ever to win an Antrim Feile title or the Intermediate championship final 2015, both great days
10. Worst club memory? When Anna Finnegan came to training severely hungover and decided to declare her undying love for each member of the team including Mel, was kinda awkward tbh
11. Unsung club hero? My dad (Anthony), puts everything he has into the club and the ladies team wouldn’t be anywhere near what it is today without him. Frank McGurk deff needs a mention as well
12. Best player played with? Orlaith Kirk
13. Best match you were involved in? U14 Ulster final replay against Fermanagh in 2009, came out on top by a point – great match
14. Favourite quote? “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”
15. Best advice ever received? “A goal is just a kick pass into the back of the net.”
16. What other club do you like to see do well other than St Brigid’s? Absolutely no one
17. Favourite player growing up? Cora Staunton
18. Best trainer on the team? This has to be either Julie Curran – the second those fluorescent keeper gloves come on there’s no distracting her or Ashling Henderson – gives 100% every time and rarely misses a session
19. Worst trainer on the team? Aisling Carson – the second her dad’s back is turned she’s giving herself a “well deserved” break
20. Up and coming player to watch? Hannah Donaghy
21. Favourite thing about the GAA? Everything
22. Where would you like to see St Brigid’s in ten years time? Consistently competing at senior championship level and better interaction between the two senior teams
