St Brigid’s U8 girls squad swapped the hurleys and helmets for gloves and gumshields at Gort na Móna on Saturday 29 October, when they took on two teams from the host club as well as Sarsfields GAC. An early injury forced Georgia off but her team mates regrouped as she rested up, and some fantastic defensive play by Síofra, Ríonach and Lily limited opposition attackers to few chances throughout. At one stage an injury to Siofra left the team a player down for five minutes but she recovered to play on.
A midfield combination of Mary-Angela and Cliodhna proved strong for two matches while Méabh was a suitable match for her sole centre-field marker in the third.
All three games were hotly contested by the teams and some great long-range scoring by Mary-Angela and Issy ensured St Brigids kept the score-board ticking over. A great morning’s work all round. Míle buíochas Seán agus a chairde @GortnaMónaCLG for hosting us. We’ll see you again soon!
