It is Seachtain na Gaelige from March 1st to Mar 17th. So why not practice some Gaelige during this time when playing Cluichí Gaelacha (Gaelic games). During Seachtain na Gaelige St. Brigid’s GAC is encouraging parents and coaches to promote the use of the Irish language within the club. Below are some phrases you can try to incorporate into training and games during the next two weeks.

Camán – Hurley

Sliotar – Sliotar

Liathróid – Ball

Caith an liathróid – Throw the ball!

Gabh le haghaidh pointe/Gabh fá choinne an pointe – Go for the point!

Gabh chun an cúl/Gabh fá choinne an cúl – Go for the goal

Féach ar do chúl/Amharc ar do chúl – Watch your back

Gabh leat féin! – Go Yourself!

Anseo, anseo! – Here, here!

Ar chlé! – To the left!

Ar dheis! – To the right!

Táimse soar /Tá mé/mise saor – I am free!

An-mhaith! – Well done!

Pointe iontach! – Great point!

Gabh go dtí an spás! – Go into space!
