Event: P6 S Antrim Hurling Go Games
Thank you to Gavin for compiling the report
It was the turn of the Brid Og P6 team to get some game time. St Galls, St Theresa and O’Donnells were also in attendance. As the throw in time approached our numbers swelled to 15. It was fantastic to see so many kids in attendance, all of whom were keen to participate. With the maximum squad size restricted to 8 it was decided to split the group into two teams, in order to ensure that all kids got equal game time. Games were full rules and were of 8 minutes duration.
Our first game was against O’Donnells. The O’Donnells team were skilful and physical but it did not take the Brid Og team long to find their stride and the scores quickly started to rack up. The game was end to end and fast paced. Our defensive lines remained stong throughout and Brid Og came away with a victory.
The team was rotated and our second group of players faced St Theresa’s. This was a great game with great skills on show by both teams. Again the game was fast paced throughout and again Brid Og came away with a win.
The final game saw our team face St Galls. This was the best and most challenging game of the day. St Galls provided strong opposition and it took the Brid Og team a few minutes to register a score but once this was achieved the team settled and dominated the game. This was especially impressive given that the complete team was rotated in the short space of time to ensure that everyone got time on the field.
This group of keen and skilful players deserved to come away with a clean sheet. It was great to see all players naturally attempting to catch the ball and this provided a distinct advantage in all games.
Thanks to all the players and parents and thanks to Darren for helping on the day.
