The St Brigid’s Gaelic for Mothers & Others team was set up in May 2015 by Emma Gorman, LGFA registered coordinator.  Anthony Carleton, lead coach, took the inaugural training session at Harlequins on Monday 11 May 2015, when 55 women attended.

Since May the squad has grown to include more than 75 women, with training sessions taking place at Harlequins each Monday at 8pm.  A second weekly training session was introduced for the final 6 weeks training of the year on Wednesdays at Harlequins, with an end of year presentation to Anthony being made on behalf of the squad by Hannah Higgins.

In 2015 the squad took part in a number of challenge matches at Harlequins against Bredagh, Queens International Student team, Newry Boscos and Creggan, amongst others. The G4M&O squad also entered the Belfast blitz at Sarsfields in August 2015, the Ulster blitz at Wolfe Tones, Derrymacash, in September 2015 and the All-Ireland blitz in Portmarnock, in October 2015.

The G4M&O team has taken part in a number of charity events within the club and community. A number of players ran the 5km Colour Run race supporting the NSPCC; the Hell and Back challenge supporting the Climb4Clare charity; and the team took part in raising money for Strictly Brid, playing the u12 boys and u12 girls teams.

Monday night training will resume on 11 January 2016. The first 6 weeks of training will be indoors in St Bride’s Hall at 8.30pm.  All existing and new members are welcome.
