After 3 long years, St Brigid’s Senior Ladies have  lifted the Antrim Intermediate Championship in an epic battle with Moneyglass today!

The match started and stopped after 90 seconds with an injury to Moneyglass midfielder Aine Devlin that required hospitalisation and saw the country girls depleted. Our thoughts go out to Aine and her family as we all hope for a quick recovery.

The match was played at an incredible tempo with our girls getting the first 4 points, only to be pegged back quickly by some fine finishing by Moneyglass netting. End to end play, tackles flying in that were not for the faint hearted, no quarter given or taken!

At half time we led by just 2 points and following a yellow and 2 red cards, both teams were left with 14 players.

A penalty score from the country girls brought everything level, but the cultured feet of Abby Carleton soon showed clear blue water between the teams. With the introduction of fresh young legs in the shape of Emma Ferran and Maeve Blaney, Naomh Brid were able to pull away in the last 10 minutes of the game and secure an emphatic but hard fought victory by a 0-16 -1-5 margin and secure long overdue silverware.

Every player on the park and the bench should be proud of their extraordinary efforts and well done to coach Barry Mulligan who has galvanised the team and steered them to the win. NBA!
