Despite a slow start tonight when our u14 Ladies found themselves two goals and a point down after ten minutes tonight at Musgrave, they rallied well and at the interval were four points to the good.

Significant height advantage in the visitor’s camp meant that our girls needed to play a close passing game and as the second half progressed, they began to dominate.

Our forward line of Sorcha McGarvey and a rejuvenated Anna Moore plagued the St Gall’s back line and they shared plenty of scores apiece. Supported by the ever energetic Maeve Blaney and the sure hands of Emma Ferran in the half back line, our superiority began to pay off, and by the time Rebecca Doyle joined the fray in the second half, her three goals and a point put the result beyond any doubt.

Excellent performances from our younger girls in the shape of the Glover sisters, Orlaith Lynch and Aideen Mallon will give them confidence to push on and by the time the final whistle blew, St Brigid’s were 5-19 to 3-5 winners.

Nothing should be taken away from St Gall’s who battled to the end and commanded play for a good part of the match.

Next up on the calendar is Moneyglass next week at Musgrave. An altogether different game is expected!
