The under 12 Division 1 team maintained its 100% win record with an 11 point victory away to St Johns at Corrigan Park on Friday night. With Ronan Boyle, James Turkington and Oisin McDonnell (hurling) away representing the Belfast Primary Schools in Dublin, this was always going to be a hard fought away fixture. In the opening minutes, Cathal Maguire finished a flowing move with a fine point which set the tone for an entertaining first half of end to end football. St Johns were clearly motivated to take on the league leaders and Reuben Carleton had to pull off 3 top class saves during the game. Donal Bradley grabbed 2 first half goals and at half-time we were 7 points up. Excellent defending from Harry O’Connor, Ronan Agnew and Ollie Marken kept the home attack restricted to 1 second half point. Donal Bradley completed his hat-trick with 5 minutes to go, slotting home left-footed after another excellent passing move out of defence. This team is going well, winning all 10 league games, but a better indication of its level should come next weekend at the Carryduff u12 tournament which attracts top clubs from all over Ulster.
