Unbelievable match away to St Ergnatt’s, Moneyglass as St Brigid’s progress to the Championship semi-final in extra time! The ref described it as the best game of ladies football he has seen in years and I have to agree. To try and pick any girl from any side as MVP would be impossible but lets just say that the courage, strength and commitment that all our girls showed against arguably the most powerful team in Antrim this year was simply awesome.

A single point down at half time, we scored 2 goals and 3 points to 2 goals and 2 points to even things at the final whistle with Emma Ferran, Darcey Smyth, Rebecca Doyle Maeve Blaney and Caitlin Fryers all playing their part.

Extra time saw blows traded evenly as each side fought to gain an advantage but the deciding factor was the hunger for the win and St Brigid’s were the hungriest as they stretched to a goal and a point lead that they defended like lions to the final whistle!. Sorcha, Anna(s), Niamh, Rosa, Eimear and every other player on the team won us the game tonight and should be rightly proud. Huge thanks to the parents and other team members who lent support, the ref for a fair and flowing game, and St Ergnatt’s for the game of the season!
