> Brid Og’s second game in the U12 league was an away game against Saint John’s at Corrigan Park.
> In the first half the Og’s seemed to give the Johnnies players too much respect and we went into the break trailing by two points to nil although we did put their back line under some pressure near the end of the half.
>

After a couple of changes at half time we tried to reassure the players that if they done the basics of the game right we could easily get something out of the game and in fairness to the team they began to link up well and started to grow in confidence when Sean scored the first of his points. From their poc out we tried to put them under pressure and got the equalising score. At this stage we seemed to be winning more of the dirty ball around the half back , midfield area and we tried to feed our forward line. Under a bit of pressure from Pearse and Martin the sliotar knocked off their keepers stick for a ’65’.
> Sean took the free and sliotar was struck perfectly that it landed in the back of the net to a loud cheer from the travelling Brid Og support. In fairness it was harsh on the young Saint Johns keeper who had saved his team on several occasions during the game.
>

When we took the lead the Johnnies regrouped and tried to get a bit of possession themselves. It was now Joe’s turn to be the busier in nets but he continued his fine form from the Cushendun blitz by batting the sliotar down on several occasions. Our back lines of Gerard, Shane, Paudraig, Diarmaid , Nathan and Fintan were under sustained pressure which they repelled well although the Johnnies did register another point close to the end of the game.
> Our midfield duo Brendan and Sean linked up brilliantly and fed our forwards Jack C Jack D, Luke, Dylan, Andrew, Oisin and our youngest players Niall and Pearse. There was still time for the best score of the evening when Sean and Niall linked up from a free to knock the sliotar over the black spot to register our third point and on the final whistle we had secured a hard earned 1:3 to 0:3 victory.
>
> This was a well earned victory and followed up on some great hurling displayed by the team in the Cushendun blitz. It is great to see that our players are starting to get the confidence to link up play between the different areas of the pitch. I would like to thank Oliver , John and Gerard for helping with the team and our parental support for backing the team from the side lines. Finally well done the Ogs and roll on our next game against Gort na Mona
