The under 12 Division 1 squad began their defence of the league title with an impressive victory over St Galls at Musgrave. Naomh Brid started the game strongly and raced into an early 4 point lead with scores from Conan McNicholl (2), Toirealach Brolly and Rory Moore. St Galls came back into the game with a couple of quick points before an excellent poacher’s goal from Liam Finnegan gave our lads a comfortable half time lead. Early second half pressure from St Galls was met with brave resistance from James Turkington in goals and a very composed full back line marshalled by Ronan Boyle. In attack Donal Bradley and Marcus Lynch were a constant menace, with intelligent distribution to our half forward line who kept the scoreboard ticking over. Liam Finnegan completed a livewire performance with a super shot into the top left corner. Each of the 16 players made a big contribution and this was a very encouraging start to the new season.
