St Brigid’s Ladies U14 delivered 3 in a Row today as they were crowned Antrim Feile Champions for a fourth time in five years!
Opening strongly against St James’ with an unanswered 3-8 to 0-0, the girls then faced a fancied St Paul’s team in a hard fought and at times niggly encounter. At the close of regular play, things were all even as with St Paul’s 1-1 to St Brigids 0-4. The girls put in a gargantuan effort to pinch the match during 5 minutes of extra time with a winning single point score.
The final with St Ergnat’s was an end to end affair with both sides feeling the strain of previous qualifiers. Despite a few forced errors, our girl’s fought hard to come from behind and with minutes left on the clock, 2 points in succession gave St Brigid’s the trophy with a 1-3 – 0-4 margin.
A special mention for our young U12’s Orla Lynch and Theresa Mellon who are now showing themselves as strong contenders for U14 places as the season progresses.
Every one of our girls rose to the occasion and can rightly be proud to call themselves Feile Champions 2014!
