A great run and strike to the top corner from jack Dowling was the highlight of the first half for the Malone Road visit to the Lough Shore for this reserve championship match.
Naomh Brid were able to field a strong side for the one of the few times this year and had all the early possession but could not convert either from McGrady’s frees, from 45’s or the half dozen or so chances from open play.
Despite a mackle lead full back line showing well, the second quarter saw the hosts have a higher conversion of limited chances to take a half time lead. the lead stretched to 9 points at ten minutes after the interval. however john mc guckian rory flanagan and peter mooney finally finding his range meant st brigids were still very much in the game.
tim mc crudden and dowling were bossing the midfield and defensive sectors in the last 15 minutes and the lead closed to two points. the early loss of micky donnelly to injury did have an effect on the game as the Malone boys lacked an experienced head to give direction to some of the less experienced players, but this was a more encouarging display in a competitive game.
a relieved cargin side were content and pleased to hear a final whistle
