Naomh Brid B 0.3 Pearses 1.5

The wind was a big factor in this game, with the home side playing into the breeze in the first half half. The omens looked good when Conor Mulgrew and James McKenna kicked early points and St Brigids led after the first ten minutes. However possession was hard to come by for the rest of the half with Pearses claiming too many of the home sides kickouts. The St Brigids defence, led by Daniel Foster, Zach Porter, Ryan Austin and Conor Slevin, all of whom made a big contribution to their team, resisted the pressure for all but a crucial 5 minute spell during which 1.3 was conceded.

Despite playing into a stiff breeze Tom Morrissey and Eoin Mitchell did win some ball which was fed into the forwards. The early accuracy was gone though and a number of very scorable chances were sent wide.

The half time score was 1.4 to 0.2 in favour of Pearses.

In the second half St Brigids outplayed their opponents everywhere but on the scoreboard. Mitchell twice went close with goal chances, while Jack McGurk, Ruari McDonnell, Thomas McCarney and Conor Mulgrew also had narrow wides. Tom Morrissey did score a fine long distance point, as well as covering a lot of ground around midfield, but that was the only score we could muster.

The St Brigids team was battling right up to the final whistle and the score in the end was an unfair reflection of their endeavour. The final score was St Brigids 0.3, Pearses 1.5.
