The annual summer Cul Camp began today in unusual sunshine to kick-start the biggest week of the year for the club. I took a wee jaunt up to Harlequins at lunchtime to see 130-odd happy kids contentedly munching their lunch under the cover of the stand, making an absolute racket, to which their attentive supervisors seemed totally inured. Our thanks go to Martin McCarney, lead co-ordinator, and his team of volunteers, including our senior footballers, male and female, without whose gratis services this excellent development week would not be possible.
Tonight (Tuesday) the Ladies development team teake on St Gall’s at Milltown in their championship debut at 7.00pm.
On Wednesday our reserve senior footballers will aim to build on their league promotion success by gaining a first ever reserve cup final place by overcoming a strong Cargin outfit at Casement Park. On Friday it’s the big one, again at Casement, as our seniors face favourites St John’s in their Antrim SFC 1/4 fnal clash. The Corrigan Park club will be hotly fancied to progress based on recent form and head-to-head results, but the romance of the championship can throw up some rum results. A big south Belfast turnout on the night could make the difference. Both matches have a 8.00pm throw in.
On Sunday evening the ladies entertain Moneyglass in the semi final of the Intermediate Championship at 5.15 at the Shaws Road venue. All support invited
