The past week proved a busy week for the u12 footballers with league games on Wednesday and Friday evenings.

First up on Wednesday St Brigids played host to St Pauls in a Division 1 tussle rescheduled from the previous Friday. A highly competitive game with two very well matched sides saw the lead change hands a number of times. St Brigids we quickest off the mark and charged into a 6 point lead at the end of the first 15 minute period on a score line of 2-2 to 0-2. Indeed the lead should have been much greater if it were not for some wayward shooting from the lads in blue and gold.

St Pauls game out strongly in the second period and reeled off a series of scores to St Brigids solitary point to end the second period all square at 2-3 each.

For the third and final period, St Brigids again took early control and held a two point lead going into the final few minutes. However a late goal and a final point tapped over from a close range free saw St Pauls run out eventual winners on a score line of 3-5 to 4-4.

On Friday evening both teams were away to St Johns (Division 1) and Pearses (Division 2).

The trip to Corrigan is always an interesting affair for teams from St Brigids and this would prove to be no different. Played over two 25 minute periods the game ebbed and flowed with the lead changing hands on a number of occasions. In a tough, physical, but sporting encounter both teams gave it their all. With 15 minutes remaining St Johns hit the net to give the home side a significant boost and move into a clear two point lead. However, the lads from St Brigids did not capitulate. At this stage playing in to a strong breeze they took the game by the scruff of the neck and dominated the final 15 minutes registering 1-4 while holding St Johns scoreless. This was a great game with two well matched teams, however St Brigids displayed some great passing skills to secure the points on a score line of St Johns 2-5 St Brigids 3-7.

The Division 2 side also travelled away to play Pearses in North Belfast. Up against a physically strong Cliftonville Road side the lads played extremely well. However some poor shooting left the team with an uphill struggle with Pearses running out eventual winners on a score line of Pearses 1-6 St Brigids 1-2.

Training continues on Sunday at 9:30am, Deramore Park and again on Tuesday evening at 7pm, Musgrave Park.
