The under 18’s travelled down to Toome to play Cargin in the all county minor league and came out on top by 3-15 to 0-10 with a good team performance, with all 20 players who were used on the night making a contribution. The victory against a very young Cargin side featuring quite a few under 16s was in stark contrast to the home game 7 days earlier.

Salter in nets was very solid, the defence all played well, restricting the hosts to 3 points at the short whistle while a return of 1-8 marked a good tally from the midfield dominance gained by Leonard, Mackle and co in the middle third. Up front Gildea, McGrady, Mooney and Lavery all played their part. Garret Cullen showed glimpses of his excellent potential and overall the mentors Quinn, Gildea, Macklin and Conway could be content with a much improved performance. Conal Kelly, Cathal Conway and Jack McGrath continued on their strong showing last Friday with second half substitute appearances.

Training continues on Thursday at 5 :45pm at Musgrave Park.
