Under 8 – St Brigids select V St Galls A St Brigids Under 8 select today hosted St Galls at Musgrave and played out a hard fought draw. St Brigids dominated the opening ten minutes of the game and in that period Matthew McGuigan registered a goal and a point. Both scores were the result of efficient teamwork with passing moves involving Hugo Leeson, David Aiken and Patrick Graham.

In the middle third of the game St Galls began to win a lot of possession and put the St Brigids attack under severe pressure. Liam Donaldson was now in goals and made some great saves. The Brigids defence worked very hard, and Marcus Lynch, Aideen Mallon, Patrick Murphy, Tiorlelach Brolly and Joseph McCarney made sure that the St Galls team did not build up too big a lead.

In the final third the momentum came back towards the hosts. All of the forwards including Joeseph McCarney, James Dougan and Patrick Devlin were working hard to retain possession and Marcus Lynch and Liam Donaldson got the scores to level the match. Conor Mulgrew and Dominic O’Loan made some great blocks in midfield and defence as St Galls tried to take the lead again while Tiorleach and Hugo carried the ball well, turning defence into attack.

The tackling and blocking of the St Brigids team was a notable feature of the their game and St Galls didn’t get any easy scores during the game. It was a tough game and one in which the P5s never gave up and in the end a draw was a fair result.
