St Brigids GAC Cul Camp 2010
St Brigids are holding their annual Cul Camp this year in August between the dates of Monday 16th and Friday 20th, and it is open to all St Brigids GAC members who are curently at primary school.
Cost this year is £45 for per child (£30 for 3rd + child in any family) payment in cheques to be made payable to St Brigids GAC.
Last year the Cul Camp was very popular with 160 children attending , however there was a last minute rush for places, with 50 children (or rather their parents) registering in the week before the camp. In fact approximately 30 children arrived to register on the first day of the camp.
This left the club in a serious dilemma, as there are strict rules governing coach to children ratios and the various child protection checks needed by anyone coaching at St Brigids. The club was faced with the potential situation of turning children away.
However after a number of last minute phone calls, we managed to get suitably qualified coaches at short notice. The other issues regarding sourcing kits/rucksacks and equipment all were managed as well, however they took a lot of time organising and the club called in a number of favours to locate kit and bags.
With this in mind the club is changing the way the club is running the Camp this year.
1) There will be a maximum of 120 places this years camp on a first come, first served basis. Fully paid up members will have first call.
2) All applications received by the end of June will be guaranteed a kitbag and kit for all applications recieved after this date, kits will be subject to availabilty.
3) Applications will close at the end of July. No applications will be accepted after this date. This is to ensure we have correct number and quality of coaches. This rule will be strictly enforced.
4) Refunds are available if child is unable to attend, providing cancellation is before the end of July.
We whilst we regret that the club has brought in these changes, we feel that they are fair and give everyone ample time to get their application form in. Whilst we enlist the support of outside coaches to give high quality coaching to the children, a number of the club coaches give up a weeks leave to organise and supervise the camp. Their role during this week is focusing on the supervison of children and coaches, not chasing additional resources and kit.
