The valiant U12s bowed out to pre-tournament favourites St John’s in their O’Donnell Cup semi-final clash at Rossa on Friday. The Johnnies took full advantage of a stiff breeze in the first half and, despite gallant defending by St Brigid’s, led by a healthy 10 points by the interval thanks to a somewhat fortuitous late goal just on the whistle. Although St Brigid’s enjoyed a better share of possession in the second period, they found the conditions difficult to master, with accurate passing a casualty. However, their commitment could not be faulted as they battled bravely to the final whistle against a skillful and physically strong side.
Final score: St John’s 2-9 St Brigid’s 0-4
Team: C Moran, M Cummins, S Moran, F McKernan, C Lynch, N Lundy, E Maguire, D Mooney, P O’Sullivan, A Lavery, P Morgan, P O’Boyle, K McAllister (J O’Kane), K McGovern, S Boyle (R Smith)
