The U12s lost out to Lamh Dhearg on Sunday bringing their winning sequence to an end. However, the 0-5 to 0-8 defeat was a valuable learning exercise in terms of the physical challenges that lie ahead when the league starts next month. The two point lead at the interval proved to be insufficient, as a hungry Lamh Dhearg took advantage of the wind in the second half. That said, St Brigid’s were clearly the more skillful side and had they taken at least one of a number of excellent goal opportunites the result could have been reversed. Overall a good battling performance from the team, particularly in the second half, with Dermot McMenamin, Finn McKernan, Philip O’Sullivan and Peter Morgan catching the eye.

Break next week for Easter with the local derby against Bredagh at the YMCA on Sunday 30 March. Lesson for the day: sheer grit and determination will be key to the team’s success or otherwise in the league and championship over the coming months.
