The U12s turned out again in impressive numbers at Woodlands on Sunday, when they overcame Eire Og on a scoreline of 6-9 to 3-0 to record their third win on the spin. A word on context, though: the games to date, as well as the home fixture against St Paul’s next Sunday, are essentially against Div 2 clubs. The latter two challenge matches in March scheduled against Lamh Dhearg and Bredagh will provide stiffer challenges and should better reflect the type of quality that we can expect to face in League Div 1. The league fixtures are due to be announced shortly, but the games are expected to be played on Friday evenings with a 6.15pm throw in time. Keep checking the website for the full fixture list.

A word on discipline: due to the size of the squad (30+) the coaches have been organising mini games for those players not involved in the Sunday match. As stated already, these games are very important in terms of skills development, as well as ensuring that everyone is kept warm and ready to come in to the main match when asked. The coaches expect first-class attitude, behaviour and commitment from players participating in the mini games. This equally applies to those players joining the mini game after being substituted in the Sunday match. Players’ behaviour and (in)discipline will be reflected in squad and team selection for the league campaign.
