A under-strength U12s team fell well short against the might of league and championship winners O’Donovan Rossa at Harlequins on Friday evening. The first half was virtually one-way traffic as the boys from the west took control and picked off a series of excellent points, finishing with a hat trick of goals. With Naomh Brid scoreless at the interval, there was just pride to play for in the second half, and to their credit they turned in a much improved display, competing ferociously for every ball. This resulted in an evenly balanced and enjoyable second period with the home side picking off a goal and two points to restore respectability. Those catching the eye for the losers were Ferghal Leyden, Garret Mulholland, Finn McKernan, Dominic Mooney and Niall Quinn (in a cameo appearance in goals). Next up are a fancied Carryduff side, who visit the YMCA on Sunday morning, 30 September. Training at the YMCA as usual at 10.30am this Sunday.
