St. Brigid’s travelled the short distance to St. Paul’s excellent facility in Holywood to play a challenge game in preparation for the Reserve Championship last Tuesday Night and came from behind to register a win by the slimest of margins against their first team.
With Michael Malone and Aidan Christie in defence shaping up well and young Cormac McGrady looking lively in the half forward line St. Brigid’s more than held their own playing up hill in the first half, but for a brief moment of indecsion in the full back line the Malone boys would have been in front at the break.
Trailing by 1:5 to 6 points at the “small whistle” the ngame was wide open.
Manager Feargal McCann urged a more direct approach in the second half and eventually the message got through. After an evasive run along the byline by McGrady,Paul McCrudden was on hand to fist to the net. Ryan Mackle chipped in with two points and the boys in blue were in front. Special mention to Paul Brady, Greg Morris and Rory O’Neill who incidently all got booked played their part in a lively encounter.
The final score of 1:10 to 1:9 reflected the high number of wides the home team hit, and the reluctance of the visitors to deliver quick ball to the twin threat of the
Finnegan brothers who lurked with menace close to goal.
