On Friday last the elasticity of the U12 panel was stretched to breaking point when the 46-strong panel could only muster 11 players to play against Gort na Mona.
The first half did not initially bode well and the St Brigid’s players started and looked as if they had not kicked a ball in weeks with very good reason. The hosts kindly lent a few players to make it 15-a-side, the half time score of 3:6 to 1:0 reflected a half where scores were hard to come by. However, players to catch the eye included Philip o’Sullivan and Caolan McGarvey.

The half time prep talk by manager Neill Herity seemed to do the trick because
with some excellent handling by Hugh O’Connor, Patrick O’Boyle, Peter McGinnity and Shane Boyle stopping up shop in goals the match was transformed, and with the St Brigid’s team coming more into the game the scores began to flow with Maguire, Mulholland, and Herity all contributing well.

The final score was 6-4 to 3-9 to the St. Brigid’s team.
