The U12s B team got their summer holidays off to the perfect start with a comprehensive defeat of St Gall’s at Milltown on Friday despite fielding only 13 players.

Full time: St Gall’s B 4-1 St Brigid’s B 5-12

St Brigid’s, playing with the advantage of the slope on the Milltown pitch, started
brightly. With Conor Hughes’ excellent fielding in midfield, and Garett Mulholland a rock in the full back line, the supply of ball was non-stop to a forward line that raced into an early lead of 1-5 to no score in the first ten minutes. However, the Gall’s boys responded with two major scores of their own and it was game on.
But defiantly, St Brigid’s finished the half in fine form hitting home an unanswered goal and three points to finish the half in the lead by 2-8 to 2-0.

St Gall’s dominated the early exchanges of the second half but could only manage
a goal for their early domination. Kealan McAllister was causing problems for the St Gall’s boys, and Patrick O’Boyle combined with Conor Leonard to put Joseph Cunnane though for the decisive goal. St Gall’s visibly wilted after this, and with
Cathal Conway running the midfield for the visitors, St Brigid’s ran out easy winners
by 5-12 to 4-1.

Mentors Boyle, Hughes and Harkin were full of praise for another fine display from
the under 12’s who can look forward to a well-earned break over the summer period.
