St Brigid’s Division 5 team kicked of a double header at a beautifully presented Sarsfields venue last Sunday and picked up their fifth victory from seven outings to keep in touch with the league leaders. The first quarter was evenly contested with St Brigid’s enjoying the better of the early scores with Rauri O’Neill and Keelan McCrudden scoring points apiece. Gregory McGonagle and Brian Loughran
were controlling things in the middle third and after an incisive run from O’Neill, Kevin Finnegan was on hand to convert from close range. Naomh Brid pulled ahead in the second quarter to lead at half time on a margin of 2-7 to 0-4.
The second half saw Ruari Taylor strike over some fine scores to ease Naomh Brid further in front. With Joe Marley, one of five subs to come of the bench, scoring from distance manager Feargal McCann will have a strong panel when the “Reserves” next field in three weeks’ time. The final score was a fair reflection of the difference between the two teams.
