Michael Davitts II 0.4 Saint Brigid’s II 3.12
Ryan Brolly stole the show at Davitts scoring 3 goals and 2 points from play to set up a second straight win for the Naomh Brid second stream. Ryan sent a big message out to the senior management that this could be his year and put his namesake on notice that there is definitely another scoring threat in the Saint Brigid’s camp this year.
This was by no means a one man band as their were stars all over the field as Naomh Brid scored a solid victory over the team that ended their league aspirations at the end of last season.
New man John McGuckian was superb in the middle of the park scoring a point off each foot. His midfield partner Conor Mullan was also outstanding and found Brolly for many of his scores.
The match was pretty much wrapped up at half time as points from B Reilly 2, Mel MacSherry Chris Quinn 4 added to Brolly’s goal and two points, were answered by two solitary points from the home side.

Paul Finnegan, Paul O’Hara and Andrew Brennan marshalled the back six well as St Brigid’s drove forward in the second period. The excellent Brolly added two superb goals and McGuckian’s two points and another from MacSherry put the game beyond the reach of Davitts.
Whilst Eunan enjoyed a romantic break in Rome it was rumoured that he guested for St Benedict in their Division 3 All Vatican League, keeping himself in shape as he knows he has a challenge on his hand to break back into the team. Andrew Brennan made a good start on his competitive debut and showed no signs of being downhearted as he wore Deaghlann O’ Hagan’s old (very) boots and the love of his life holidayed in France. Anyway Paddy will be able to watch whatever he wants on TV tonight!
Jimmy King was back in competitive action after his long lay off from his broken leg and hopefully John Mackle’s photographs will match up with this report.

Back to training on Tuesday night but John McKeever may be absent as he gets Sat Nav fitted.
A quick word for Michael Malone who was excellent in nets.
Best wishes to the senior team who fly off to meet Dr Croke’s in a challenge in advance of their April 1st replay with Crossmaglen.
