A large St. Brigid’s panel took the field against St. Pat’s Lisburn at the YMCA in this under 14 challenge and came away with a comfortable victory against an under strength Lisburn team.
With Ben Leonard lording it at midfield and McGrady and Flanagan tagging over scores in attack, the visitors could only manage one first half point. Garret Cullen and Aidan Leonard were on hand to snuff out any counterattacks the Lisburn lads could muster. The one clear goal chance that Lisburn had, brought a top drawer save from Michael Campbell in nets.
The half time score of 2:6 to 0:1 gives a clear indication of the difference on the day.
All substitutes got a run out in the second half and among those to catch the eye were Rory Finnegan, Jack Cassidy and Francis McGuckian. St. Brigid’s ran out easy
winners in the end with McGrady threading two balls through the Lisburn defence that were finished with panache.
The final score of 4:8 to 1:1 reflects the work that coaches Campbell, and
McGuckian have carried out over the winter period.
