Two years ago St. Brigids travelled to play the same fixture and got hammered. On sunday 4th March the tie was a much more even affair despite being short a few regulars. The senior teams improvement can be assessed by the marked improvement in the result of the game against the East Tyrone men. This time the St. Brigid’s were able to match the standard of the opposition and leave James Loughrey some added time to recuperate after a very taxing sigerson weekend. One in which James became the first club man to win a medal in the blue ribbon of universities football, fittingly enough with fellow Malone Road Gael’s Queen’s University, Belfast.

The game was naturally enough a game of two half’s but the strong breeze lead to the majority of the scoring at one end. Unfortunately in the first half it was all at John Mackle’s goal mouth. The home side scored some excellent points courtesy of the McGuckian Clan. When Joe McKeever was isolated in front of goals after 15 minutes the Malone Road boy’s were about to concede a first half goal. Despite creating a few chances and one in which a goal beckoned it took the old master Joe Brolly to register the first score just before the break.
The half time score was not a pretty sight showing: Edendork 1:5 to St. Brigid’s

However with the wind at their backs the supply of ball into the forward line improved John Mc Guckian and Dara Edwards found Joe Brolly on a couple of occasions and the result was that St. Brigid’s were very much back in the game. Ryan Brolly fired over to keep the scoreboard ticking over and with Micky Donnelly having a solid game in the full back line it was a much improved second half.
The final score was Edendork 1:9 St. Brigids 0:6
Manager Connor Mac sherry noted the fine improvement over the space of two years.
