The Seniors suffered their first defeat of the season when they were overcome by St Johns at Corrigan Park on Friday 1st September.
After yet another fixture rearranging farce the game was moved to the night after “that match” and St Brigids just couldn’t kick into gear on the night.
Despite a three-point half time lead, too many chances were squandered and far too many basic errors made, two of which resulted in conceded goals.
Even then there were no less than five squandered opportunities to equalise, only one of which ended in a shot let alone a score.
Paul O’Hara tried hard as did Gareth Macklin, Paddy McDonald was immense in the middle, Duncan MacAuley had a good first half, Deaghlan O’Hagan a fine second and Joe Brolly played well when fed possession … full stop
Full Time: St Johns 2 – 9
St Brigids 1 – 9
With Glenavy winning on Saturday the league goes down to the wire and a probable head to head between the top two. Hopefully it will be played before Christmas.
