Wednesday 21 June 2006 saw the second half of the league commence with St Brigids Seniors entertaining St Agnes. The food afterwards at Harlequins was about the only thing entertaining however.
After a bright start which yielded a couple of Joe Brolly frees, a well taken goal from James Loughrey and a penalty expertly chipped over the bar by Ruari O’Neill, the home sides play became increasingly sloppy and mistake ridden.
Gareth Macklin impressed on his Senior debut and linked up with Deaghlan O’Hagan to score a fine point on 18 minutes. By this time the visitors had finally found their scoring range after a series of wides and when they converted a penalty in the 20th minute, there was only one point between the sides. Ruari and finally Duncan MacAuley registered late on to give some breathing space at the break.

Half Time: St Brigids 1 – 6
St Agnes 1 – 3

The second half saw the home side play with the elements but again the performance was error ridden. It took late goals from Brolly and substitute Chris McCann to kill the game as a contest. The visitors were left to rue their ten first half wides.

Full Time: St Brigids 3 – 9
St Agnes 1 – 5

Richard Smyth impressed at the back while Stephen Morrissey was sound under high balls. Macklin and Benny Reilly gave good accounts of themselves. Gregory McGonigle was his usual hard working self while up front the half forward line worked hard. Overall though this was a far from impressive performance on a night that Dunloy picked up another brace of points in Division 1. They’ll hardly be shaking in their shoes.
