Eire Og 2:7 St Brigids 0 : 4
St Brigids travelled to Falls Park to take on a strong Eire Og side on Tuesday. As in previous league matches St Brigids made a strong start with Campbell pointing in the opening minutes. Unfortunately, as in previous weeks the opposition managed to reply with two quick goals. Despite the best efforts of Leonard and Dowling in mid-field Eire Og dominated in this quarter. Only once did St Brigids manage to move the ball into the scoring zone with McLean pointing from a difficult angle. This mid-field dominance provided a strong platform from which a series of long-range points were picked off by Eire Og. The St Brigids back line of Winters, Bogue and Webb coped well with the Eire Og forward line and managed to concede only one further point from a free kick on the stroke of half time.

Half Time Eire Og 2:3 St Brigids 0:2

With Cullen dispatched to do a man marking job on the oppositions play maker and Sweeney moving into a more attacking role, St Brigids managed to restart brightly. Four wides in quick succession however saw much effort cheaply squandered for the Blue and Ambers while at the other end Eire Og were able to chalk up three points from three shots as the Eire Og sharp shooters found their range. With minutes to go the now traditional late recovery for St Brigids began. Dead ball specialist Mackle converted from the 22 and minutes later he latched onto a hard won ball from Flanagan to point from close range. It was a case of too little too late however as Eire Og cleared the bar from a 45 as the final whistle sounded.

This was a workmanlike performance from St Brigids but our inability to convert possession to scores proved our downfall against a side who put more shots over the bar than they shot wide.
