Lamh Dearg 5:14 St Brigids 0:10

Déjà vu- Tuesday night comes but the players do not. Again an under strength side travelled to Lamh Dearg. This was the second time these teams have met this year. Unfortunately the St Brigids men appeared to be in awe of this physically very tall side. Mc Grady opened the scoring with a point for St Brigids in the first minute. Lamh Dearg immediate reply was to find the back of the net twice in quick succession.
The normally strong defence for St Brigids struggled to find form with tackles and catches being missed and clearances finding white shirts rather than blue. In scenes reminiscent of the “Alamo” Lamh Dearg held St Brigids in their own 45 for over ten minutes notching up regular scores all the while.
St Brigids did eventually manage to break the siege and scores from Mackle and Mc Grady helped lift spirits briefly. As the half time whistle went however St Brigids trailed 2:8 to 0:6
Some positional changes in the second half give Flanagan some more freedom on the right wing but St Brigids failed to capitalise on hard won possession shooting three wides from close range and were unfortunate to miss a penalty. On the counter however Lamh Dearg had “access all areas “ in front of St Brigids goal and they duly netted a further tree times to put the Hannahstown men well out of sight. With this deficit the men and Blue and Amber uncharacteristically simply waved the white flag only pointing from two frees while Lamh Dearg scored freely from all angles.
This was a disappointing performance, the determination usually shown by this team simply did not appear and Lamh Dearg were handed the first win in the league in four starts.

Man of the Match: – not awarded.
Notable performances Webb, Mackle, Mc Grady and Ferguson all kept going.
