In perhaps the toughest challenge of the season so far St Brigids eventually ran out comfortable winners at St Teresas on Sunday May 7th 2006.

A very tight first half finished all square as the home side clawed back the early advantage given to the visitors via a Chris McCann goal.

Half Time: St Teresas 0 – 6
St Brigids 1 – 3

The second half looked like developing into a ding-dong battle until the home side lost their composure somewhat. That, combined with a strong physical presence in the persons of Conor Mullan and Gregory McGonigle in the middle of the park ensured an abundance of possession for the St Brigids strike force. Scores eventually flowed freely in the last quarter with virtually everyone popping up for a point. This was after a well-taken Ryan Brolly goal had killed the game as a contest. Special mention should be made also of Stephen Morrissey who saved a penalty and pulled off a fantastic point blank save when there were only three points between the sides.

Full Time: St Teresas 0 – 10
St Brigids 2 – 12

The Seniors now have an enforced break of three weeks before resuming action and sit on top of Division 3 with full points from six outings.

09/05/06… That’s what happens when reports are rushed for the paper, turns out Stephen saved a penalty last week but didn’t get a mention. Now that the game has been reviewed on video it also turns out that Decy’s ball to Brolly was, like his opening point, spot on. Joe just didn’t appreciate having to run for it.
