Last Sunday saw the U10s get their season off to a flying start with two well-earned seven-a-side victories over close neighbours Eire Og at Woodlands.
There was plenty of skill and determination on display as the boys and girls overcame their opponents in difficult underfoot conditions. In match A, a special mention goes to midfield dynamo and captain, Kevin McGovern, and to James Guinness, who kicked several excellent scores in a sparkling debut.
These players were ably assisted by Vincent Harkin, Joe Cunnane and Caolan McGarvey, Eoghan Maguire and Phillip O Sullivan
In match B…a combination of boys and girls were played, with Abigail Carleton and Aoife Maguire playing strongly. From the boys’ point of view Peter Morgan and Daniel Rainey played extremely well and showed great tackling skills, despite the mucky pitch!
This was a good start for the U’10’s and hopefully we can build on this in preparation for the forthcoming tournaments.
It is our intention to have a challenge match every second week, if possible, during which all children will be play for an equal amount of time. Hopefully this will allow everybody to have football on a regular basis and let them all know that it is the team who play, win or lose.
See you all at the YMCA next Sunday
