The seniors had a useful outing against near neighbours Bredagh on Sunday 27 February. Played over three periods to ensure all 27 players present enjoyed a run out, it was the Down men who led after the first short whistle on a score line of 1 – 5 to 0 – 4, the St Brigids scores coming from Deaghlan O’Hagan and 3 from Jimmy King.

With 12 subs introduced for the second period including 3 minors, it was no surprise that Bredagh pulled further ahead with another 2 – 1 to a solitary Frankie Devlin point. More important however was the display of those minors, Mark Kelly, Aidan Owens and especially Kevin McQuillan, all three looking entirely comfortable at this level of football.

The Antrim team with a Conor McKendry goal plus further points from Devlin and O’Hagan and an excellent long-range effort from Conor Mullan edged the third period.

Full Time: Bredagh 3 – 10 St Brigids 1 – 8

Best for St Brigids were O’Hagan, McQuillan, Devlin and Mullan with Paul Finnegan and the ever-reliable Joe McKeever solid at the back.

Finally, a big thank you to our new referee, Paul Lavery, who equipped himself well in his first ever game.
