Under 8 and Under 10 Girls’ Fun-Filled Year Draws To A Close

The Girls’ U10 & U8 footballers had a great year with an increase in numbers from last year and a number of players moving onto the U12s.  We began our fixtures in February at the Sarsfields GAA  winter blitz. Thereafter we played every two weeks until the end of June as part of the Antrim League Blitz and were very successful.  We also hosted at Musgrave on two occasions also. From September to the end of October we had games every Saturday as part of the Colin Glen Winter Blitz.  Overall we had over 20 different players who participated in the U10 Girls games this year. Numbers are also increasing at Fun Sunday.

The U8s participated in a number of Blitzes this year. We also hosted an U8 Blitz at Musgrave in June. Recently the U8s attended a Blitz at Bredagh.

We also participated in the McGlone Cup held by St Galls (All Ireland Tournament). Winning all of our group games (Four) we progressed to the quarter final of the senior cup and won our game against Lamh Dhearg. We lost in the semi-final to St Galls who ended up as tournament winners. This was a great achievement and is a measure of how much the group has come on. The team were taken to Pizza Express to celebrate!

Huge thanks to coaches Anthony, Cliondha, Muiris, Catriona & Emma for their efforts throughout the year.
